It's hard to believe that Phoenix Wright, Ace Attorney, first took the stand two decades ago. In 2021, we've now reached and surpassed dates established in the original trilogy. More importantly, though, the official Ace Attorney website is recognizing the occasion.
A special anniversary site opened yesterday, which marked 20 years exactly since the release of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney in Japan. The site opens with a message from the series development team, thanking fans for their devotion through the years and promising more to come. (The message can be read in full in English on the front page.)
The site goes on to show off various celebratory events and endeavors, many of which are already underway. A Capcom vs. Osamu Tezuka characters exhibit is running 'til October 18 at PARCO Factory Ikebukuro, featuring an Ace Attorney corner:
Two new commemorative illustrations have been released, and will be available as prints and on goods. The first, by Yusuke Nakamura (character designer, The Night Is Short, Walk on Girl), depicts rivals Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgworth. The latter, by Kazuya Nuri (character designer/art director for multipe Ace Attorney games), celebrates The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles:
A "History" section will also be available on the site soon.
The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles recently received a localized release, bringing us the story of Phoenix's ancestor, Ryunosuke Naruhodo and his adventures in Victorian London. The first six games of the series, as well as the first installment of Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth, are avaiable on various systems.
