Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO Powers Up to No. 1 at Japanese Box Office in 1st Weekend

Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO

The latest Dragon Ball Super anime film opened in Japanese theaters on June 11 after a short delay, marking the first time a fully CGI Dragon Ball film has been released. Even though the film opened on a Saturday, the Toei Animation-produced feature was reported to come in at number one and made a decent 670 million yen!

Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO has made over 670 million yen (US$4.98 million) based on 500,000 tickets sold in the first two days on just 407 screens, beating out Top Gun Maverick for the number one spot based on admissions. However, SUPER HERO made less in its first weekend than Broly, which made over 1 billion yen. Though Broly opened on a Friday, giving it the full weekend while SUPER HERO only had the two days.
