Doraemon: Nobita's Little Star Wars 2021, the latest entry in the anime theatrical film series based on the classic children's manga by Fujiko F. Fujio about a boy and his friend the time-traveling robot cat, is now playing in Japanese movie theaters, and now the opening scene of the film has been published to Youtube.
In the video (below), Nobita and his friends are filming a special effects movie in their backyard. When Nobita is tasked with taking out the trash, he mistakes a real alien spaceship for a prop from the movie shoot. Later, the tiny alien Papi emerges from the spaceship and surprises Nobita and Doraemon.
A remake of the 1985 Doraemon: Nobita's Little Star Wars theatrical anime film, the story of Doraemon: Nobita's Little Star Wars 2021 is described as follows:
One day during summer vacation, a palm-sized alien named Papi appears from a small rocket that Nobita picks up. He is the president of Pirika, a small planet in outer space, and has come to Earth to escape the rebels. Doraemon and his friends are puzzled by Papi's small size, but as they play together using the secret tool "Small Light", they gradually become friends. However, a whale-shaped space battleship comes to earth and attacks Doraemon, Nobita and the others in order to capture Papi. Feeling responsible for getting everyone involved, Papi tries to stand up to the rebels. Doraemon and his friends leave for the planet Pirika to protect their dear friend and his home.
Doraemon: Nobita's Little Star Wars 2021 is directed by Susumu Yamaguchi and features animation production by Shin-Ei Animation and Shirogumi. Originally scheduled to be released on March 05, 2021 but postponed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the film opened on March 04, 2022, and is currently playing in theaters in Japan.
