Eiga Sumikko Gurashi: Aoi Tsukiyo no Mahou no Ko (Sumikko Gurashi The Movie: A Magical Child of the Blue Moonlit Night), the second anime feature film inspired by Japanese stationery company San-X's popular mascot character brand, has kept its strong momentum. In its third weekend, the 65-minute film earned 123 million yen (1.08 million USD) on 100,000 admission to stay on the No.1 spot for two consecutive weeks.
The film, written by Reiko Yoshida (Violet Evergarden), has a cumulative total of 520,000 ticket sales and 640 million yen (5.6 million USD) in box office gross, becong the tenth top-grossing Japanese animation film of 2021. In response to the box office success, it has been decided that 72 more theaters will be added after December 3, and 16 more by the end of December. With the expansion of the number of theaters, the fourth round bonus of "Christmas cards" will be given to theatergoers from December 3, which is expected to expected to spur more theatergoers to come.

The 120-minute film has sold 690,000 tickets so far, and its total gross has almost reached the one billion yen (8.76 million USD) mark.
Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night dropped two positions to sixth in its fourth weekend. The film's official website announced on November 19 that its cumulative box office gross had reached one billion yen (8.76 million USD).
Eiga Tropical-Rouge! Precure Yuki no Princess to Kiseki no Yubiwa! (Tropical-Rouge! Precure The Movie: The Snow Princess and the Miracle Ring) was down one position to eighth in its fifth weekend. The 30th Precure feature film has made 520 million yen (4.56 million USD) from its domestic run so far.
ARGONAVIS from BanG Dream! Ryusei no Obligato (Meteoric Obligato), a compilation film based on the 13-episode TV series ARGONAVIS from BanG Dream! aired in Japan from April to July 2020, didn't appear in the top 10 in its opening weekend. An all-new feature film of the anime series is set to be released in the summer of 2022.
