Much like a Japanese Seven-Eleven convenience store earlier this year, Yodobashi Yokohama has been limiting the sale of the highly desired Pokémon Cards to true fans of the series, trying to keep out scalpers who may be buying the card packs to resell online or through second-hand shops.
The latest tale comes from Japanese Twitter user @siro_gaming1 who seems to be traveling around Yokohama today looking for new Pokémon card packs for their collection; likely because the Pokémon Center stores in Kanagawa and Tokyo are currently closed due to the current COVID infection rates and State of Emergency.

@siro_gaming1 revealed in the above Tweet that in order to buy a box of Eevee Heroes (ironically, the same pack as the Seven-Eleven story from May) and a box of Shiny Star V, @siro_gaming1 had to answer a Pokémon-related question to be able to buy the boxes. When pressed on what the question was, @siro_gaming1 replied the question was "In Pokémon, who is the main character's partner?" The Twitter user obviously got the answer right with the Pokémon Cards in shot.
While this may seem like a simple answer, with Pikachu being Ash's partner Pokémon, one could argue that it is Pikachu that is the main character, with Ash being his partner. Or with Goh being a "main character" in Pokémon Journeys, is the answer Scorbunny? Maybe the question is about the games, where the player is the main character and you choose your partner Pokémon, meaning any number of Pokémon could be the answer.
Though one would imagine that once you got that deep into the Pokémon lore, you'll be branded a true fan and be allowed to buy the cards.
