Sea of Stars Trailer Shows More Classic JRPG-Inspired Gameplay, Reveals Switch Plans

Sea of Stars

After being announced in early 2020, the Kickstarter campaign for Sabotage Studio's classic JRPG-inspired game Sea of Stars managed to get funded in under seven hours. Over 25,000 backers ended up supporting the ambitious project, which was first promised for "consoles and PC." Now one of those platforms has been confirmed with the Nintendo Switch announcement, and Sabotage is currently aiming for the holiday 2022 season for the full release.

A new trailer premiered during Nintendo's Indie World showcase earlier today. The remaining platforms and storefronts will be announced in spring 2022, and for now you can see what a heap of inspiration from Chrono Trigger and other classics paved the way for below.

Sea of Stars is set in the universe of Sabotage's platformer The Messenger, and the soundtrack features Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Xeno series) as special guest composer. While holiday 2022 is the goal, Sabotage mentioned in today's Kickstarter update that they won't rush the game. The exact date will be announced sometime next year once they have a better idea of when they can realistically release it without compromising quality.
