Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest 


It's not long now until the second season of the Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest TV anime, which is based on the series of isekai fantasy light novels written by Ryo Shirakome and illustrated by Takayaki, hits Japanese airwaves, with the series announcing today that it'll premiere on January 13, 2022. Two more cast members were also confirmed for the upcoming season.

Taking over the director's chair is Akira Iwanaga (Tegami Bachi Letter Bee) at both asread and Studio MotherAsread and WHITE FOX produced the first season of the series, with Studio Mother taking over WHITE FOX's role for the second. The rest of the lead staff and cast return from the first season.


The Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest light novels are written by Ryo Shirakome and illustrated by Takayaki and published in Japan by Overlap Bunko. An English version of the series is available from J-Novel Club via digital distribution, with 11 volumes available, and in-print via Seven Seas Entertainment, which describes the story as follows:


Seventeen year old Hajime Nagumo is your average, everyday otaku. However, his simple life of pulling all-nighters and sleeping in school is suddenly turned upside down when he, along with the rest of his class, is summoned to a fantasy world! They're treated like heroes and tasked with the duty of saving the human race from utter extinction. But what should have been any otaku's wet dream quickly turns into Hajime's nightmare. While the rest of his class are blessed with godlike powers, Hajime's job, Synergist, only has a single transmutation skill. Ridiculed and bullied by his classmates for being weak, he soon finds himself in despair. Will he be able to survive in this dangerous world of monsters and demons with only a glorified blacksmith's level of strength?


The first season of Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest aired from July 8, 2019, to October 7, 2019, with two OVA's released in December 2019 and February 2020. Funimation streamed the series. The second season is scheduled to premiere on January 13 on AT-X at 11:30 PM.
