The life-sized Gundam will continue walking through GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA as the mecha will be extending its stay in Yokohama beyond the previously announced end date. The City of Yokohama, along with others, confirmed today that due to the overwhelming amount of requests of people both within Japan and outside of the country who currently are unable to visit the giant walking machine due to the current state of the world, the statue will trek through until March 31, 2023.
GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA was built to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Mobile Suit Gundam. As well as the 1:1 scale 18-meter tall mecha, the surrounding area includes educational exhibits, a shop, and a cafe – which will be the last remaining Gundam cafe when the rest of the close over the coming months.
The life-sized walking Gundam and entertainment complex opened on December 19, 2020, on Yamashita Pier in Yokohama.
